BA to Rosario - Friday 5 May

Highlight of the day for many was the stock sale @ Liners Livestock Market with 8100 head of cattle up for sale today. The market sells daily with an average of 7000 head daily. We seemed to walk forever along the catwalks but eventually found an auctioneer and a keen band of buyers. They use gauchos to move stock about but some are also buyers and like to see their stock from the saddle. Fascinating. All stock to slaughter for local consumption. None for fattening or export.
Then on to the Pampa area. Huge and goes on forever. Looks not unlike a moister Australia with all the gum trees and.. the cropping goes as far as the eye can see - soybean, corn, barley, wheat and peas.
We visited a farm owned by Alexandro Caleron. It was a minced farm called El Desafio. His farm is 280 ha and he leases more. Also has some Angus stud cattle to follow up crops. Lunch there was cooked on an outside bbq oven. We slept most of the way to Rosario. Lol.
Ous shade was a huge wisteria. Mosquitos were the size of small ponies. Lunch had a tinge of repellent essence.  :-)
Harvesting soya beans. All farm equipment large and grunty! The driver harvested a row close to us for our approval. Lovely visit here. Very welcoming family. Biggest issue in the Pampa at the moment is too much rain and nowhere for it to drain to. But more about that later. 👌🏻❤️😊
