Mekong Island visit

Tan Chau was our overnight anchorage and this morning we took the tender (local passenger boat) over to the island. Visited a farming/fishing village, a reed/bamboo mat factory and an automated silk weaving business. Fascinating!!
Hilight for me was the bicycle rickshaw ride. Local island machine!! Hang on tight!! Great views into local businesses as we passed and lots of kids waving “Hello”.

Houses and villages different as we progress down the river. Lots of factories. Many rice processing facilities and the river is good transport I guess.

Fish farms we are passing this evening. Lots of barges looking as if they are going to sink under their load of dredgings. Used for land reclamation.
