Barges - just so you can see...

Empty...

Full...
Just a bit complicated...😜

Mekong Island visit

Tan Chau was our overnight anchorage and this morning we took the tender (local passenger boat) over to the island. Visited a farming/fishing village, a reed/bamboo mat factory and an automated silk weaving business. Fascinating!!
Hilight for me was the bicycle rickshaw ride. Local island machine!! Hang on tight!! Great views into local businesses as we passed and lots of kids waving “Hello”.

Houses and villages different as we progress down the river. Lots of factories. Many rice processing facilities and the river is good transport I guess.

Fish farms we are passing this evening. Lots of barges looking as if they are going to sink under their load of dredgings. Used for land reclamation.

Mekong - into Vietnam 🇻🇳

We spent the day cruising on down the Mekong. A 2 hour stop while we were processed at the border- an official took all our passports etc on shore  and as all our visas were in order ✔️.
Good job he didn’t drop them. Had a lovely relax with a bit of a cooking lesson + fruit carving. Read a book!! Learned how to make animal towels and some new napkin folds.

Later on we had quiz night and a karaoke session. Loads of fun!!

Rice paper rolls and dipping sauce.

Phnom Penh #3

Ox cart ride or - local BMW : water buffalo motor!!

Markets and the city. We are moored close to the central city - just a quick tuk tuk ride but we took a city tour in the afternoon to a religious mountain in the city - 87m above sea level. A very flat country.

Phnom Penh #2

Temple viewing and Buddhist blessing yesterday morning - then the young monks gathered up the jasmine flowers - to reuse??

Women priests at their lunch time.

Silk Island

On our way to Phnom Penh

A beautiful village lady shared her home with us. Can you see the bamboo slats on the floor. Gaps between for fresh air. High on stilts to counter the floods. She said the distance to the ground was half of that when she was a child - due to silt build  up.

The kids were cute. Have the wee boy a bouncy ball which was immediately pounced on by his sisters!
