Mekong cruising

Bus ride through the countryside to our cruise departure really interesting. Lots of sights to see on the way. They love their beer here - best for the heat!! And obviously no sailing on the lake. 😘😮

The trip took us 5 hours with typical tourist rest stops and fortunately no squat loos. Lol

After ‘settling in we were off on a tuk tuk ride to a local island village which has only just recently got an all weather bridge. Previously a bamboo brigade for the dry periods. Looking at water marks on another bridge and how high off the ground the houses are... think the river could come up more that 5m in the monsoon season. Fortunately only a few spots of rain for is so far. We do have ponchos and umbrellas.

Siem Reap again...

As download speeds slow here...a couple more pics from last nights wander around.

River full of weed at this  end. Slow moving but not too many insects. Surprised to see someone swimming or was he fishing? Road crossing practice here is safeish - spot the gap, put up your hand and walk - easier in groups. Think when we go to bigger cities we’ll only be able to walk around the block. Lol.

Cambodia - Siem Reap

Flights good. A wander around Changi airport (in transit -Singapore) with lots of rides on the sky train between terminals. Saw just about all the attractions including the cactus garden and the sunflower deck. Of course we sampled some yummy food too.

Finally we were off to Cambodia. First impressions from the sky was quite flat low lying land and the Mekong River very wide - like a lake!
Landed and into the heat of the day. Buying our visa was a bit of a mission but before long we were at our oasis for the next 3 nights. Shot a Mani Resort is in central Siem Reap. And... the pool was just what the Doctor ordered!!

Now refreshed we headed off exploring. As follows some of the sights. Had a bite for dinner at the corner of pub street. Busy busy busy...

Martin checking out a fish nibble manicure - tickles!!
